Hon D M Swaminathan is the present partner of the firm, and has over 45 years of experience representing foreign and domestic multi-nationals in Banking and Property transactions. His areas of expertise are Banking law, Commercial Property and Litigation. He has extensive experience advising businesses and corporations in these fields.

Educated at the Royal College Colombo, he studied law at the Sri Lanka Law College and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka as an Attorney at Law.

Mr. Swaminathan hails from a very prominent family which has produced many internationally renowned scholars, lawyers and statesmen. Sir Sangarapillai Pararajasingham, member of the Senate of Ceylon, was his grandfather, while Sir Ponnambalam Arunachalam was his Great Grandfather. His great uncle Sir Ponnambalam Ramanathan was Ceylon's first Solicitor General and is considered to be the "Greatest Ceylonese of all time". Another great Uncle Sir Muttu Coomaraswamy was the first non Christian/Jew to be admitted (into Lincoln's Inn) to practice law in the United Kingdom.

Five members of the family received knighthoods under various British monarchs including Queen Victoria, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II. This includes Sir. Mutthu Coomaraswamy who holds the honor of being the first Asian to be Knighted in 1878. 

Mr. Swaminathan has previously served as the Governor of Sri Lanka’s Western province and Chairman of the National Savings bank. He has also served as a Member of the University Grants Commission, Public Service Commission, Educational & Service Committee, the Local Government Service Commission and a member of the Sri Lankan Parliamentary Council.

He is currently Sri Lanka's Minister for Prisons, Resettlement, Reconstruction and Hindu religious affairs.
